About Pieter Monsma

Dutch Passion Farmer and Owner of Airpark Samara

Pieter Monsma is known for his enthusiasm, passion, and visionary mindset. A friendly and approachable real estate investor from the Netherlands, Pieter first visited Costa Rica in 2005. He immediately recognized the incredible real estate investment opportunities and fell in love with the pura vida lifestyle of Samara.

At the time, Pieter was a mental coach and inspirational speaker in the Netherlands, touring with his theater program “The Passion Farmer.”

Drawing from his background as an agriculture farmer, Pieter used his unique skills to help others rediscover their passions and life goals. This rewarding work remains close to his heart. Later, he combined his role as an inspirational speaker with teaching others how to identify the best real estate investment opportunities.

Real Estate Investment Opportunities

In 2005, Pieter Monsma purchased a share in the Parque Buenavista project – a separate development featuring 19 jungle lots with stunning ocean views, located just a 2-minute drive from Airpark Samara. Two years later, the opportunity to invest in what is now Airpark Samara presented itself. Pieter, along with his partners, decided to develop both projects, guided by a clear vision and step-by-step mission. His background as a Dutch farmer proved invaluable, as the entire airpark is essentially one large finca with expansive green grounds ready for development.

However, in 2008, the global financial crisis forced Pieter to pause development in Costa Rica. During this time, he focused on several businesses in the Netherlands, all related to agriculture, real estate investments, and training others to become successful real estate investors. Pieter also dedicated his time to building communities and helping others achieve their goals.

Now, with better times ahead, Pieter is excited to return his focus to completing his ultimate project – Airpark Samara.

The Runway is now Operational

Fortunately, Pieter successfully developed the runway, which has been fully operational for many years under the approval of the Costa Rica Aviation Association.

Today, a private flight school operated by one of his business partners offers daily flights and scenic tours in small gyrocopters.

Flying to San José takes less than an hour – a stark contrast to the 4 to 6-hour drive, depending on the plane you are flying.

Fly and Live in Paradise

At the end of 2023, Pieter Monsma returned to Samara with his girlfriend, Mireille Verhoef. Mireille instantly fell in love with Samara Beach, and together they decided to stay and develop the airpark according to Pieter’s original master plan – creating the perfect fly-in community where you can fly and live in paradise.

With a background in tourism and education in the Netherlands, Mireille launched airportsamara.com, an all-in-one booking hub for Samara Beach. Take a look to discover everything this beautiful destination has to offer for beach vacations.

Now, Pieter and Mireille are working together to find the perfect new neighbors for Airpark Samara – a place they proudly call home. By joining them, you become part of a growing community of aviation enthusiasts living in this tropical paradise.
